Our major campaign for 2011 Reaching Out – sheltered housing, a community resource has proved a great success with members championing the role of sheltered housing.
We have seen members across the UK hold events, from reading buddy sessions with local primary schools to intergeneration IT sessions, and Fairtrade coffee mornings to health and wellbeing projects with older people in the community.
The aim of the campaign is to champion sheltered and retirement housing as a valuable community resource and asset.
We have received some great case studies from members including, Riverside ECHG, Waltham Forest Housing Association, City ofWestminsterand RCT Homes.
Members have also used the campaign to lobby local MPs to raise the profile of sheltered housing, including Waltham Forest Housing Association schemes having a visit from the Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP.
Members can continue to take part in the campaign by using the campaign pack and send through details of activities they are involved in.
