We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Kier Services. Kier are supporting us in 2018 to produce a new Good Practice Guide on Loneliness and Social Isolation.
Kier Group plc is a leading property, residential, construction and services group which invests in, builds, maintains and renews the places where we work, live and play. Kier delivers its services to many sheltered housing schemes across the UK, working closely with older people and their wider support network.
There is a growing body of evidence about the role older people’s housing plays in tacking loneliness and social isolation but a lack of practical guidance for providers and those who work with older people. Our guide will consolidate some of this evidence, highlight the positive role sheltered and retirement housing play in reducing loneliness and social isolation, and include good practice for those who support older people or are or at risk of loneliness and social isolation.
Rebecca Mollart, erosh CEO, said “We are delighted that Kier has decided to support us to provide this essential good practice guide. Loneliness and social isolation are very important and increasing issues and Kier has enabled us to prioritise this activity in the new year”.
Emma Quanash, Customer Experience Business Partner for Housing Maintenance, said “We are really excited to be working with erosh, and in a way that increases awareness about the issues older people are facing. Our customers will reap the benefits from service providers that better understand the impact of loneliness and isolation, and empower our sector to help reduce this”.
The Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) is a national charity dedicated to helping older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs. EAC offers services to older people and to those working with older people. We are delighted to annually support the EAC awards.
Erosh members are highlighted on EAC’s http://www.housingcare.org/ website. This demonstrates commitment to best practice and continuous improvement and enables members to showcase the quality of their schemes and services at a time when funding for supported housing is under greater threat than ever.
Ian Williams Ltd, an erosh member, is one of the UK’s largest property services companies with particular expertise in social housing. The company has a long standing mutually supportive relationship with erosh previously sponsoring the erosh awards. Ian Williams helped to develop our Sensitive Contractors’ Good Practice Guide which prepares contractors for working sensitively in older people’s homes in any setting.
Interactive Toolkits helped us to develop our Service Impact Tool (SiT), a quick, easy-to-use framework for recording the evidence needed to demonstrate the value of your services to local authorities, statutory services, and other key stakeholders. Interactive Toolkits was set up to help advance the work of policy & strategy professionals in gathering and interpreting the complex data sources needed to underpin decision making and demonstrate compliance with funders, governmental and other legal requirements. Interactive Toolkits have been supplied to over 25 Local Authorities across England giving users the power of meaningful intelligence.
The Mercers’ Company is the Premier Livery Company of the City of London and has regularly supported our events by providing the prestigious (and very beautiful) Mercers’ Hall for national events and network meetings. The Company, and its associated charitable trusts, make substantial grants to support education, general welfare, church and faith and arts and heritage. A network of almshouses and other homes for older people are also managed by the charitable trusts providing high quality affordable accommodation for older, retired people of limited financial means in the London Boroughs of Greenwich, Islington and Tower Hamlets, East Grinstead in West Sussex and Shotesham in Norfolk. Their one and two bedroom homes form part of attractive, well-maintained community developments where support is provided by resident managers as well as out-of-hours response centres.
Sitra (to be known as the Supported Housing Alliance from June 2017) offers discounts to erosh members so they can access great, affordable training. Sitra has over 30 years’ experience in being leading training providers across the Housing and Health and Social Care sectors.
